Event Description
Chair Yoga incorporates a chair as your main prop to the practice of yoga. This class is great if you want to enjoy a Mindful Hatha Yoga class with stretching and body movement in a gentle, supported practice. You will use the chair in both seated and standing poses, to support any balance or mobility challenges. But make no mistake! Chair Yoga is STILL Yoga. It’s different than yoga in seated or reclined positions but certainly no less than a true, yogic experience. At Take Me To The River Yoga studio you will be led in the Kripalu tradition of yoga, focusing on body awareness and sensation. Your class will end with gentle relaxation and a mindfulness meditation practice. This approach allows you to explore your own personal mind/body connection in a safe environment. Come learn how you can integrate a yoga experience “off the mat” in your daily life.   FAQs What should I bring to class? Mats and chairs are provided. Feel free to bring your own mat, if you'd like. Tighly closed water bottles are allowed, however if you hydrate before class you will most likely not need water (we don't sweat!) I've never done yoga before and I'm not very flexible. Is this class for me? This class is for everyBODY. If you are completely new to yoga, or attend yoga regularly, you will be able to choose your own personal level of participation. There are plenty of options to each movement to allow you to move at your own pace in a no-pressure environment. In this class we say, "No pain, no pain" because "gain" is for some other activity in our lives!" Chair yoga is perfect for folks with limited mobility, either due to injury, sedentary lifestyle, or just the desire to move slowly and with more mindfulness. How can I contact the organizer with any questions? email any questions you may have tish@takemetotheriveryoga.com
